First selection Open Images available
November 19th 2009
The entire first selection of material for Open Images has been placed online. The 469 items that can now be found on Open Images mainly stem from the Polygon Dutch News collection and a few from the Netherlands Government Information Service collection.
The current selection is mainly centered around a certain amount of themes: city, summer, nature, water, nutrition, sport, education, religion and labor. The items’ topics are very diverse, such as for example an item about a caravan that also functions as a boat, but also footage of the Tour de France in the Netherlands or of the first residents of Almere.
The material covers the period 1919-1980 and consists of a variety of material: from silent black-and-white footage to colorful images with the characteristic commentary of Philip Bloemendal.
