Sound and Vision launches clipservice for professionals

01 October 2009 On September 15 2009 the Dutch Institute for Sound and Vision launched the new paid-for online clipservice for professionals in the creative industry: www.dutchfootage.com. Users can download preselected clips from the archives of Sound and Vision 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for reuse and incorporation in their own productions.

Winner Celluloid Remix announced

29 September 2009 On September 25 the prize winners of Celluloid Remix were announced at the Netherlands Film Festival. Celluloid Remix is an online remix-competition with films from the beginning of Dutch film history organized by the Filmmuseum and Images for the Future. Out of 54 high quality entries the jury picked Jata Haan’s film Movement as the winner.

Launch Open Images!

24 September 2009 On 24 September 2009 Sound and Vision launched Open Images, a new and open media platform that offers access to a selection of archive material to stimulate creative reuse. Footage from these audiovisual collections can be remixed into new works. Users of Open Images then have the opportunity to add their new material to the platform, in order to expand the archive.

‘Holland reads’: use your hands

23 September 2009 From 23 October until 20 November 2009, the campaign ‘Nederland Leest’ (Holland Reads) will be held. During this campaign, the Dutch Public Library Association will launch a book application on the Microsoft Surface Table. This is a digital table that responds to touch and will be filled with documents, photos and films about the Dutch writer Hella Haasse and her book “Oeroeg”. Several visitors can ‘play’ with the information simultaneously, to their heart’s content.

New future for ‘Barend & Van Dorp’

17 September 2009 A special day: on 17 September 2009, the Dutch Institute for Sound and Vision makes over 8 years of Barend & Van Dorp (a famous Dutch talk show) online available at www.barendenvandorp.nl. And this is only the beginning; during the coming months even more material will be provided. Frits Barend and Henk van Dorp, the two talk show hosts, expressed the wish that the material should not only be conserved properly, but should also be disclosed.

Location, location, location: Mapit1418

31 August 2009 During History Week (October 17 until October 25 2009) Knowledgeland and the National Archive will present the website MapIt1418. “War and Peace” is the theme of the week and this initiative corresponds nicely to it: the site gives access to an exceptional selection of First World War photo material from the National Archive. On this site special attention is given to photos from the Netherlands during the time of war, many of which have never been displayed before.
