Taking Pictures To The Public - Evaluation

10 August 2009 On October 21, 2008 the Nationaal Archief and Spaarnestad Photo were the first Dutch heritage institutions to place a small selection of their photos on Flickr The Commons, the ‘archives section’ in the popular online photo community Flickr. This initiative is part of a series of pilot projects that are being developed within Images for the Future in order to conduct research on involving the broad audience in photographic collections and metadata generation.

1000 hours of Barend & Van Dorp online

02 July 2009 In 2008 Holland’s most renowned talkshow hosts Frits Barend and Henk van Dorp drove a trolley filled with all the episodes of their famous talkshow into the Sound and Vision building. As of September 17 Sound and Vision will put over 1000 hours of this unique material on display in their virtual showroom. Not only to let everyone in Holland enjoy it again, but also to be able to sell it.

Milestone: fourteen proposals for digitizing photo collections

09 June 2009 Thursday, June 4 at 2 P.M. the deadline for delivering proposals for the digitization of photographic material from the National Archive, the Filmmuseum and the Dutch Institute for Sound and Vision expired. The Tender included over 1.300.000 photographs and negatives. The National Archive called for this European tender.

Launch of Digitization of Photo Collections

14 April 2009 In the past six months the National Archive, the Filmmuseum and the Dutch Institute for Sound and Vision have collaborated extensively on the guidelines for the European tender for the digitization of photographic prints and negatives. The National Archive is taking the lead in this trajectory because of its expertise in the field of photography and the digitization of photographs.

Sound and Vision is looking for a million experts

23 January 2009 The Netherlands has millions of media experts and Sound and Vision would like them to start sharing their knowledge with each other on the Sound and Vision-wiki (Beeld en Geluid-wiki). Program makers, media scientists and viewers and listeners either know a lot about radio and television programs and about the people who pull the ropes or they have very specific knowledge about subjects such as radio technique or television design.
